There is real talent hiding in this small business for fragrance. Enough effort that it catches the attention of fragrance hobbyists like myself. I happen to think that Doug and Fran have great noses for fragrance and they have put some real effort into the fragrance aspect of their shaving products. PAA is primarily a wet-shaving product maker and that is their focus. I hold very little sway over what they do. I have tried to lobby Doug and Fran of PAA to put more emphasis on the perfuming aspect of their business, but I'm just one of their pesky, picky customers. It's not like highly synthetic chemical fragrances that can buy cheap, large volume ingredients from a corporate lab.

If the supplier goes out of business or changes their product, it will effect the PAA batch. PAA uses old fashioned methods, so they are at the mercy of ingredient availability.

There are no guarantees though since it's not always easy to obtain ingredients for perfuming on the market. I have corresponded with Doug of PAA and he has my feedback that this most recent batch with the darker juice is a home-run and he has promised that "if" he ever makes Vetiver Planet again, he will make the effort to source the same ingredients. Dark, rich, smoky vetiver that puts hair on your chest. And boy, I feel very lucky I got this final batch. Very recently, for their final batch before being discontinued, it seems they sourced a more potent vetiver grass. I came to find out that Vetiver Planet is VERY susceptible to batch variation due to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements' methods of perfuming and ingredients sourcing. I bought it on clearance around the time of this thread. To the OP, looks like it's too late to comment on Vetiver Planet. How did I miss this thread? I just found it. The nice thing is you can order samples of any of the aftershaves you want for cheap and decide which ones you do like. So, for what it's worth, I think PAA is great and love to purchase from them. Hoping I can talk him into it and talk the Coneheads into trying it out to make it worth his while to bring it back. I'm hoping he'll resurrect his "Douglas" line for Christmas time, which is a Douglas Fir needle smelling soap, aftershave, EDP, etc. I've tried a few others I didn't like as much, but PAA does a very nice job with their fragrances. I like this one for the nostalgia.Įu Tu: Tribute to vintage Brut. Lo Haiku: This is a tribute to Hai Karate. I never smelled Seaforth Spiced, but I do like this tribute by PAA. Worth checking out.ĭiver Down: Tribute to Seaforth Spiced. I like it quite a bit.Ĭlub Guy: This is a tribute to Clubman by Pinaud but it's MUCH BETTER than the Clubman in my opinion.
